PD 161374 primarily acts on the early stages of viral replication, inhibiting the completion of reverse transcription without affecting viral entry or later assembly. PD 161374 remains active against HIV-1, HIV-2, SIV, and drug-resistant strains. PD 161374 can be used to study antiretroviral agents.
