Description:

A highly potent, specific and cell permeant inhibitor of human proline endopeptidase (PE) with Ki of 1 nM; shows no activity against a series of other peptidases including aminopeptidases B and M, dipeptidylaminopeptidase IV, endopeptidases, calpains and angiotensin-converting enzyme; significantly increases in SP- and alpha-MSH-like immunoreactivity in the frontal cortex and hypothalamus in rats (30mg/kg); shows cognition-enhancing properties in chronic low dose MPTP-treated monkeys.
