Description: | Apogossypol (NSC 736630) is a Bcl-2 family antagonist that binds to Bcl-XL, Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL with IC50 of 2.6, 2.8 and 3.69 uM, respectively; induces apoptosis of tumor cell lines, inhibits the growth and proliferation of prostate cancer cells by downregulating Bcl‑2 protein expression and activating caspase‑3 and ‑8; displays superior activity to gossypol in terms of reducing splenomegaly and reducing B-cell counts in spleens of Bcl-2-transgenic mice. |
