Description:

WYC-209 is a novel synthetic retinoid that inhibits proliferation of malignant murine melanoma tumor-repopulating cells (TRCs) with IC50 of 0.19 uM, targets retinoic acid receptor (RAR); also inhibits proliferation of TRCs of human melanoma, lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and breast cancer in culture, abrogates lung metastases of melanoma TRCs in immune-competent wild-type C57BL/6 mice at 0.22 mg/kg without showing apparent toxicity; induces TRCs apoptosis primarily via the caspase 3 pathway, RAR siRNAs or antagonists can block or reduce the inhibitory effect of WYC-209.
